How does TaxiFareFinder calculate the fares?
TaxiFareFinder's taxi fare calculation is based on a proprietary algorithm that takes into account a multitude of considerations. We utilize taxi rates from over 1000 localities spanning the globe, and incorporate not only the distance and duration of your trip, but also factors such as traffic patterns, driving speeds, urban density, and possible wait times. Our estimates are carefully calibrated based upon actual fares submitted by our staff, taxi companies, and our users.
How accurate are TaxiFareFinder's fare estimates?
TaxiFareFinder's taxi fare calculation is based on a proprietary algorithm that takes into account multitude of considerations. It is not based solely on the trip distance and duration like other calculators available on the web.
TaxiFareFinder utilizes up-to-date taxi rates from over 1000 localities, covering thousands of cities. This information is carefully and constantly monitored for its accuracy by our staff and supporters from our active taxi community.
Your actual fare may vary depending on unforeseen factors, such as inclement weather, unusual traffic congestion, and even your driver's driving habits; however, under normal driving conditions, our fares are known to be very accurate. If you found your fare to be different from our estimate, please let us improve our algorithm by clicking on, 'Disagree?' button and submitting your fare. Your submission will be incorporated into future calculations.
How are TaxiFareFinder's fare estimates more accurate than other sites'?
Other websites and calculators use simple calculations based solely on the expected distance and duration of a trip. This, unfortunately, does not result in estimates that are accurate or comparable to real world fares. TaxiFareFinder's sophisticated algorithm considers additional factors, such as city's traffic patterns and driving speeds, and is carefully calibrated on actual fares submitted by our staff, taxi companies, and our users.
How does TaxiFareFinder map the routes?
We utilize Google Maps to build out the route map for your trip. For each fare estimate, TaxiFareFinder prepares multiple route suggestions. The user can click through these options to see which route may be preferable to them. By default, TaxiFareFinder displays the route that is the cheapest of the possible options.
Any disclaimers?
Yes. TaxiFareFinder is for reference only. The estimates can vary from your actual fare, depending on unforeseen factors, such as inclement weather, unusual traffic congestion, road constructions, and even your driver's driving habits. Please refer to our disclaimer.

My cab driver is quoting a different price than the estimate I received from TaxiFareFinder. What should I do?
Before you panic, speak to the taxi driver. TaxiFareFinder is for reference only and certain factors such as traffic, increment weather, construction, availability of flat rates, service fees, and tolls may affect the actual fare you are charged. If you still feel the fare is inaccurate, you should call the local authorities from your cell phone or take down the information of the driver and the taxicab. Please refer to our disclaimer.
I am entering the address, but it doesn't seem to find the location.
TaxiFinder may not be able to identify the location with the information you have provided. This may be due to multiple locations that both fit your entry or an outdated address. Please try being more specific, for example, by entering the city name and zip code. If you are entering an establishment's name (say, 'Marriott'), you may want to try using the 'near' keyword in your entry. Try typing in, 'Marriott near Boston, MA.'
The site is not working. I think I found a bug. What should I do?
Please help us improve the app by notifying us of the issue.
I do not agree with the fare estimate!
We apologize. We try to provide you with best estimates with the most updated information and routes; however, there are various factors that affect taxi rates, such as traffic, increment weather, construction, availability of flat rates, service fees, and tolls. Any of these factors can change the fare drastically. Help us improve the app by submitting your cases through the Contact Us page.
The route is inaccurate when I enter a location name, e.g. 'Hilton Garden Inn.' Do I need to enter an actual address?
No, our calculators can accept establishment names. This works well with unique locations such as airports. However, if there are multiple locations with the same name, despite its best attempt, the calculator may point you to a different/incorrect location. If this occurs, we recommend you enter the city and state names. If you are not sure of the city or state, you may also use the 'near' keyword, where you can enter something like, 'Hilton Garde Inn near Toledo, OH.'
